What is the Trail Companion offline map, and how do I get it?
It's a live map included with your guide that works with no mobile signal — which matters, because reception on the Seven Sisters is poor. After buying, tap the activation link in your purchase email (the QR code in your PDF takes you to it) to unlock the map on your phone, tap Save for offline once while you still have signal, and add it to your home screen. It then shows your live GPS position on the cliffs along the full Seaford-to-Eastbourne route and the riverside alternative, with every cliff, café, toilet, car park, bus stop and safety point marked. Your phone's GPS works from satellites, so your position keeps updating even with no signal.
How does the audio tour work, and what does it cost?
The GPS audio tour is an optional add-on that lives inside the Trail Companion map. Tap Start the audio tour once, and 26 narrated stops play automatically as you reach them between Seaford and Eastbourne — the geology of the chalk, the wildlife, and the history, from the lost medieval village of Exceat and the smugglers of Crowlink to the lighthouse that was moved back from the cliff edge. About 25 minutes of listening in all, written by Alen Marrick.
