1. Introduction

Welcome to SevenSisters.co.uk. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and respect. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you visit our website.

SevenSisters.co.uk is a tourism information website providing visitors with guides, walking routes, and practical information about the Seven Sisters cliffs in East Sussex, England.

Data Controller: SevenSisters.co.uk
Website: https://sevensisters.co.uk
Contact: privacy@sevensisters.co.uk

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain technical information:

  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, device type (mobile/desktop)
  • Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, links clicked, referring website
  • Location data: Approximate location based on IP address (country/city level only)
  • IP address: Anonymized for analytics purposes
  • On-site tool usage: Anonymous counts of how our interactive tools are used - for example which option you tap in the route planner, or which Discover card you click. These are simple tallies: no cookie is set or used, no identifier is stored, and nothing can be linked back to you or to a visit

2.2 Information You Provide

We only collect personal information if you voluntarily provide it through:

  • Chatbot: When you use the chatbot, your question and whether it was answered are logged anonymously to help us improve the guide. No IP address or account information is stored.
  • Newsletter signup: If you submit the “Stay Updated” form, we collect your email address and send it to our email provider, Brevo, to deliver occasional guides and tips. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • Guide purchase: If you buy the Ultimate Guide (PDF), our payment processor Stripe collects your email and payment details to take the payment, and we store your email with Brevo to send your download link and receipt. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Email enquiries: If you email us, we keep your name, email address and message in order to reply.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy:

Analytics Data

Retained for 26 months (Google Analytics default), then automatically deleted

Newsletter & Purchase Email

Email addresses held in Brevo until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them; purchase records kept as long as required for tax and accounting

Chatbot Logs

Question text and a matched/answered flag, with a one-way hashed session token (no IP, no cookies), auto-deleted after 12 months

On-site Tool Usage Counts

Anonymous tallies only - for example how many visitors chose each route-planner option. No cookie is set or used and your IP address is never stored: to stop one device inflating the counts we keep a one-way hashed value derived from it, which cannot be reversed and is deleted every day. Day-by-day totals are deleted within 120 days (sooner for some tools); the remaining running totals are aggregate numbers containing no personal data

Cookie Data

Varies by cookie type (see cookie table); your consent choice (ss_consent) is stored for 12 months

Legal Requirements

Retained longer if required by law (e.g., tax records, legal disputes)

10. Children's Privacy

Our website is intended for general audiences interested in visiting the Seven Sisters. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@sevensisters.co.uk and we will promptly delete it.
